To me, a portrait without a face says so many thing. People easily connect with photos of human, especially with human’s face, because they can catch right away the emotion of that person in the photo. In the other hand, the faceless photos can create connection with the audience by the emotion of itself. The faceful portraits photo tell the surface story of the subject in it, but the faceless photos tell the hidden emotional story of that same subject. And it seem like whispering few thing about people who are looking at it.
That’s why I always love to play with shadows and faceless self portrait of myself, partly because I am not really confident about my pose 🙂 and because I find different kind of emotions or stories in this kind of portraits, and especially of myself. It’s an interesting way to play around when taking a photo of yourselves.
